Meet the Team – Megan MacDonald

With our physical events postponed until next year, we think it’s more important than ever to connect with our community. Welcome to the first of our Meet the Team series so you can get to know the team behind The Influencer Marketing Show Global!
We kick off with our brand new Community Manager, Megan MacDonald.
What’s your role?
I will be working as a Community Manager for PerformanceIN. This encompasses everything to do with marketing and all things comms but I will also be looking after Talking Influence’s lovely community as we get ready for the launch of our four new virtual shows. I will be running the socials for #IMSGlobal20, a new virtual event happening on November 17-20th. Check it out here.
What’s your background?
Before the pandemic, I was working as a Community Manager in a tech coworking space which also happened to be PerformanceIN headquarters. My past role was extremely varied but included a lot of event management as well as creating and running events. My new role is a perfect fit but ever so slightly different as everything has moved into the virtual realm. I have always been interested in Marketing and am really happy to have finally landed a role in the industry, especially because the job market is so tough at the moment.
Apart from job searching I have been keeping myself busy in lockdown developing my own festival fashion business and I am also starting a part time UX Masters in September.
What’s it like starting a job during a pandemic?
To be honest, the whole process has been pretty strange. But luckily I already knew the team so the 9am standup wasn’t too awkward! Working from home is something that is quite new to me but I am excited to embrace it and to try out the new video chat backgrounds. Are they still a thing?
On the flipside, I have started during a really exciting time, this is a new phase for the company and I’m looking forward to getting stuck into everything that comes with working in the virtual event world.
Why should people come to Influencer Marketing Show Global?
The content! There’s going to be over 30 hours of content for you to digest at your own pace over four afternoons in November. There are also loads of opportunities to network and arrange meetings before the show. Everyone is in the same boat at the moment but strong connections can still be made virtually and even in your own virtual booth! It’s more important than ever to make the extra effort to reach out and connect with people and where better to do it than at IMS Global?
Please feel free to reach out to me and introduce yourself. I’d love to hear from you, and help you make those connections that count!
Register today for IMS Global and get your FREE Live pass for a virtual event like no other!
